FTP mean File Transfer Protocol and is an open standard TCP/IP protocol for transferring files from one computer to another. FTP is a popular file transfer method although users should be aware that FTP is not the safest of file transfer methods and data send may be vulnerable to interception.

Any computer system, regardless of operating system can use FTP and although not completely safe is simple method of transferring data reliably and efficiently over networks.
